Kilei Zera'im Calculator: Plant Spacing Requirements

After entering the plant type you wish to sow or plant in your garden, the calculator will display the required distance that should be maintained between the two plant types.

Important:

The result depends on the intended planting area for each plant type. Please select the appropriate category based on the following criteria:

·         Small Area – A few individual seeds, or a planting area that does not meet any of the criteria below.

·         Row – Seeds arranged in a straight line, with a minimum length of 6 tefachim (48 cm).

·         Square Plot – A square-shaped planting area, each side measuring at least 6 tefachim (48 cm).

·         Field – A large planting area, covering at least 825 m2.

Note: Vegetables marked with an asterisk* are subject to dispute between Ashkenazi and Sephardi posekim regarding their orlah obligation. We list them here as vegetables since both groups are stringent regarding kilei zera'im and kilei hakerem.
