Eating heter mechirah at other people's events
Question
I am strict about not eating heter mechirah, but I am invited to an event were heter mechirah food is served. Am I allowed to eat it? That is: do the laws of shemitah apply to buying the produce or also to eating?
Answer
Dr. Agronomist Motty Shomron
Someone who does not eat heter mechirah produce should not eat it, even if invited to an event where they rely on heter mechirah. If he did eat it, he has those who he can rely on (following the opinions of the lenient Torah sages).
